This tour starts in historical town Cividale on Italian side, continues throw the hilly wine region of the " Colli Orientali del Friuli", the harmonious landscape of Albana di Prepotto and brings us on Slovenian side in to the wine region of the Region Brda, renowned because of its beautiful landscape.

Due to its important historical value Cividale has been declared an UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Lombard temple is one of the most extraordinary and mysterious monuments of the late Middle Ages in the West. Also surprising is the Celtic Hypogeum: a mysterious system of underground caves in Cividale, whose function is still unknown.

We will pass a continuous succession of hills, used for growing grapes of the highest quality. After crossing the border we arrive to Goriška Brda, an idyllic wine-growing region. The route meanders through the villages of Vrhovlje pri Kožbani, Fojana and Dobrovo - the center of the Brda regiion - and ends after a short detour at the Gonjače lookout tower in the picturesque village of Šmartno, one of the most beautiful cultural monuments in Slovenia.
Highlights along the way: St. Andrew's Church in Vrhovlje by Kožbana, a typical Mediterranean church with the oldest frescoes in Brda showing scenes from the life of the Holy Family. We will stop along the way as well by the river Kožbanjšček, where stone formation arches over the gorge. In the summer month we will refresh in rock pools called kotline, three pools carved in to the rocky river bed. The place is very popular among young people of Brda. Continuing into the heart of Goriška Brda we will arrive to Dobrovo Castle, the Renaissance castle which dates back to 1600. On the second floor, visitors learn more about the life of the Silverio de Baguer the last Spanish count. Part of the original furniture and other objects of his family was returned to the castle after the war and can also be visited on the second floor.
